This is an exciting month for NetSpinnr, and for me. When I first created this company, it was because California had passed a law cracking down on companies treating independent contractors like employees. Since my first gig in the tech industry was as a freelance writer putting together SEO blogs, I figured I should get out in front of things.1 So I put together an LLC, set up some basic systems (HubSpot, Freshbooks, etc.) and bought a domain. It’s always been a sideline, a way to keep my skills sharp with different systems and to help companies solve new kinds of problems. I’ve learned a lot in that time, and it’s been a great experience.

Now, things are changing.

NetSpinnr: Full-time, all the time

As of this month, NetSpinnr is officially my full-time job.

Right now, that means I’m talking to a lot of former coworkers and actively pursuing consulting opportunities. I’m running deal cycles, building my sales muscles, and saying yes to as much as possible. I’m working to find my mode while rejecting specialization, and I’m aiming to move fast without breaking things.

I’m less than a month in and I’ve already had some fascinating conversations with people doing really cool stuff (and yes, that’s intentionally vague). I’m excited to see where NetSpinnr can go, and what patterns start to emerge as I do this more and more.

What’s next

Over time, NetSpinnr’s purpose and scope will continue to evolve. Right now, I’m not ruling anything out. But what I can say is that I’ve had a lot of fun learning Python and tinkering with SaaS company APIs over the years.

We’ll see if that leads to anything 😉
